Die Studie befasst sich mit Open Innovation Accelerators, die wie folgt beschrieben werden: “Open Innovation Accelerators (OIA) are intermediaries that operate on the behalf of companies seeking to innovate in cooperation with external actors from their periphery. OIAs offer one or several methods of open innovation and, in many instances, also provide supporting services for the innovation process. Their methods are especially focused on the integration of external actors. In consequence, OIAs facilitate the collaboration between an innovating company and its environment. They accelerate a company’s open innovation process” ebd. S. 19.
Diese Definition weist schon darauf hin, dass es hier bei Open Innovation um den Prozess von Unternehmen/Organisationen mit ihren organisationalen und technischen Grenzen geht, was grundsätzlich der Perspektive von Chesbrough (2003, 2006) entspricht.
Auf Eric von Hippel wird bei den beiden Informationstypen (S. 16) und beim Lead User Ansatz (S. 31) eingegangen. Dabei wird auch die Quelle Eric von Hippel (2005): Democratizing Innovation benutzt, ohne auf den besonderen Ansatz von Open Innovation bei Eric von Hippel hinzuweisen (Video: Framing an new user innovation Paradigm von 2013). Es ist natürlich verständlich, sich bei der Studie auf eine Perspektive – hier auf die von Chesbrough – zu fokussieren, doch hätte ich mir gewünscht, dass in dem Kapitel “What is Open Innovation?” auch auf den Bottom-Up-Ansatz von Eric von Hippel hingewiesen wird .
Die aktuellere Veröffentlichung Eric von Hippel (2016): Free Innovation ist in der Literaturliste nicht erwähnt. Dort macht der Autor deutlich, wie wichtig die Entgrenzung von Innovation durch Bottom-Up-Initiativen Einzelner schon heute ist, und in Zukunft noch stärker werden wird.
